DEVOTIONAL: OUR SPIRITUAL READINESS IS ANCHORED BY THE WORD OF THE LORD

Joshua 1:7-9 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

As we go through with so many circumstances in our daily lives, it might be family matters, personal and works related issues, our lives also started to be drained and exhausted. And it is easy to say, be strong and courageous when we are not in this kind of situation. But this is a great reminder for all of us, for no one is exempted against trials and hardships in life. Whatever circumstances comes our way, then the best thing to do is to be strong and have courage for this the Lord our God promise, that he is always be with us wherever we are.

Always remember this, as God’s people we are called as the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16) like Joshua. It means we are called to lead the people who are still walking in the dark, even in our weaknesses, and God will give us knowledge and strength. Our battles may differ from what Moses and Joshua had in the old testament. But this commandment of God for them remain so important for us also, to be awaken and use this as our personal guide in life.

We may not a slave to people but our circumstances commonly bring us away from God and become a slave to sin again which is very critical towards our personal relationship with God indeed. Our God is a holy One and we as his children must be holy also. His holiness was clearly shown to his chosen people in the old testament saying it with a promise. And it is extended and become available to the whole world through Jesus Christ. How blessed are we? So, Jesus as our Lord and savior commanding us to do not live worldly. So, this is our personal battle. And for us to conquer this very personal battle against ourselves: living according to the world, we need the word of God. As what was being written from the book of Joshua 1:8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. This word remains so applicable for us.

During the time when Israelite's was become slave by the Egyptian, Moses and Joshua has the promise of God to save them saying , "I will bring you up out of the misery of Egypt, to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey." And God’s faithfulness evidence was written, from the book Joshua 21:43-45

43 So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their ancestors, and they took possession of it and settled there. 44 The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their ancestors. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the Lord gave all their enemies into their hands. 45 Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

So, as Christians we have to know also about the word of God given to us in this present generation, and it can be found at the book of John 3:16-18

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

COMMAND- be strong and courageous, have faith in the Son of God, Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior who came and who is to come.

John 16:33 Jesus said,“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

But the Lord has a great reward to those who remain faithful and obedient in Christ even in the midst of many kinds of troubles, salvation and eternal life.

James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

PROMISE- Salvation and Eternal Life

First, Jesus came to save us and now that we are saved by faith, and he promise to be back soon. At his second coming  he is not as a savior anymore but as a Judge of the world (Matthew 25:31-46).

John 14:2-6 NIV My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Our sufferings and trials are predestined by God for us not be losers but to be victorious through our faith in Christ Jesus with a great reward. And our faith in him should not also going to the left or to the right. Jesus Christ must be the center of it all.

We need to dig deeper in seeking the truth in the name of Christ Jesus knowing that he is coming for the second time soon. About the time nobody knows even the angels doesn’t know when is the time, but he gave the signs that he is near and it can be found at the book of Matthew 24?

One thing for sure his second coming is the fulfillment of his promises and it is the end of the ages.

Are you ready? Are we strong enough and have courage to face Jesus?

My prayers is that may we all open our ears and humble our hearts before the Lord to accept his word in the name of Christ Jesus our personal  Lord and savior so we may find the righteousness of God that could lead us to the right path towards his perfect plans. Amen!

DEVOTIONAL: SALVATION MEANING AND ITS IMPORTANCE

Salvation (also called deliverance or redemption) is the saving of human beings from sin and its consequences—which include death and separation from God—by Christ's death and resurrection, and everyone who accept this truth will be restored through faith and have eternal life. Note, that the word death here is not about a physical death but a spiritual death. So, this spiritual death and separation from God start from the time when humans disobeyed God which is written in the book of Genesis 3 ( please read the full chapter ) . Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. And because God so love the world He made a way in which He sent his one and only son Jesus Christ to deliver and redeem us from being perished because of our transgressions and sin. John 3:16 , which says, "For God so loved the world that he g...

EVIDENCE OF A TRUE CHRISTIAN FAMILY JOHN:13:1-17 ANCHOR VERSE John 13:12-14 12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.  TO WASH ONE ANOTHER’S FEET AS JESUS CHRIST COMMANDED TO HIS DISCPLES IS NOT WHAT WE   LITERALLY  THINK  BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT A SPIRITUAL CLEANSING . DEVOTIONAL: IMPORTANCE OF REPENTANCE

Repentance is important because it allows for forgiveness, spiritual growth, and a renewed relationship with our Heavenly Father. It is an act of turning away from sin and walk toward a path of a healthy spiritual life  which leads to freedom from guilt, healing, and a fresh start. It is often seen as a prerequisite for spiritual progress and salvation. It is also an  act of feeling remorse for all the past wrongdoing. Knowing also that in every mistake that we are going to commit in this present and in the future has a consequences(including the past). So it is called to repent and not to repeat. We have to choose wisely our path by changing our mindsets and behaviour by walking towards a better way of living   fixing our eyes to Jesus.   This involves acknowledging one's actions base not by human judgement but by what Christ Jesus teaching, and committing to a change in attitude and actions in the name of Christ Jesus. A key verse on repentance is 1 John 1...
