DEVOTIONAL : HOW DOES MONEY CAN AFFECT OUR LIVES

“Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. But godliness with contentment is great gain”.

As we live in this world, we also become the eye witness on how does the world have influence our lives. Whether we like it or not the truth is we are surrounded with so many things that belongs to the darkness. These are the ways of life that are against the will of God. But still, we love to belong with it and actively participating such things, like pride of life, lust of the eye and lust of the flesh for personal gain and satisfaction. If we are going to check our social media nowadays what you can see there is nudity, sexuality, hatred and lots of non-sense things being posted and it goes trending. This is how our generation being corrupted. Whatever things that are so trending we also love to do them.

And it is all because of love of money; you see why people are fighting, ignored the word of God and follow their personal and selfish interest. On the other side, if a person also have no money what occupies in their hearts and minds are anxiousness. God doesn't wants us to feel that way.He wants us to always feel his immeasurable love for us knowing and believing that we have a mighty God,a loving Father and a great provider. And this kind of faith is what the Lord want to build in our hearts and minds to enable us to always abide in him and trust. But sad to know that the things which are happening within us and to every individual is different from what God wants.

As Christians, we also need to check ourselves and find a complete guide and protection to be saved from this corrupt generation.

1 Timothy 6:3-10 New International Version

3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4 they are conceited and understand nothing. They have an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.

6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Yes, money is not bad and it doesn't mean we don't have to work to have it for our needs. We all need money but the word of the Lord is what we needed the most, to be guided on how to use it. We are so blessed if we are so rich but we need to guard our hearts. Because this is the sad reality, when this blessing is hindering our love for God then it gains for us nothing. God wants us to gain more and become complete. We need to praise and worship him and to lift up his mighty name over everything that he entrusted to us. It means in our money or wealth we should use it for God’s glory.

If we see ourselves has no contentment and have the love of money in our hearts, we need to humbly ask God for forgiveness. As how Apostle Peter teaches the crowd with his fellow Israelite's against their unbelief; (Acts 2:38-40)38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.”

DEVOTIONAL: SALVATION MEANING AND ITS IMPORTANCE

Salvation (also called deliverance or redemption) is the saving of human beings from sin and its consequences—which include death and separation from God—by Christ's death and resurrection, and everyone who accept this truth will be restored through faith and have eternal life. Note, that the word death here is not about a physical death but a spiritual death. So, this spiritual death and separation from God start from the time when humans disobeyed God which is written in the book of Genesis 3 ( please read the full chapter ) . Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. And because God so love the world He made a way in which He sent his one and only son Jesus Christ to deliver and redeem us from being perished because of our transgressions and sin. John 3:16 , which says, "For God so loved the world that he g...

DEVOTIONAL: IMPORTANCE OF REPENTANCE

Repentance is important because it allows for forgiveness, spiritual growth, and a renewed relationship with our Heavenly Father. It is an act of turning away from sin and walk toward a path of a healthy spiritual life  which leads to freedom from guilt, healing, and a fresh start. It is often seen as a prerequisite for spiritual progress and salvation. It is also an  act of feeling remorse for all the past wrongdoing. Knowing also that in every mistake that we are going to commit in this present and in the future has a consequences(including the past). So it is called to repent and not to repeat. We have to choose wisely our path by changing our mindsets and behaviour by walking towards a better way of living   fixing our eyes to Jesus.   This involves acknowledging one's actions base not by human judgement but by what Christ Jesus teaching, and committing to a change in attitude and actions in the name of Christ Jesus.
